Expectation in Education

Retaining high grades doesn’t define who you are, it is not a justification of what kind of person you are. We know that not all the subjects thought in class are beneficial for our future. Can you able to use what have you have learned in Physical Education in your job as a cashier in grocery stores? I am not saying that studying is not essential but can somehow, government do better research on what is the curriculum will be more useful for student’s future. I still believe in what Nelson Mandela said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” Education plays a crucial role in our life, you change the world like what thought in school, the knowledge, and abilities that they mold, it will help you to face the challenges. My mother often says education is the only thing that I can inherent to them, no one can seize it. Also that if you are educated you can change and understand how to give solutions to any problems and challenges you are about to face. With your knowledge, skills, talents, and abilities you can change the world. With or without the certificate of graduation, you can help to change the world where you are in.
We are surrounded by different kinds of people domestic helpers, lawyers, actors, housekeepers, street sweepers, and so on but we can’t judge and look down on them just because of their professions. We don’t know what kind of struggle they faced and continue dealing with. Some are educated but the question is are they using what they learned? Some use their power to, degrade and discriminate against powerless people. We used to admire educated people but we must remember that well-mannered people are better than well-educated ones – unknown.
For some wearing, formal attire is a sign of success. Can you able to define success? Can the subjects thought in a class is enable them to give the meaning of success? One time I read a post saying that Bill Gates doesn’t have a college degree yet he was once the richest man in the world and Harvard University called him “most successful dropout.” He doesn’t have a college degree, but it did not become a hindrance for him to become a successful man, who founded the software company “Microsoft Corporation,” with his friend. Also, he doesn’t regret ditching college. That is one of the reasons why we should not judge others for not having a college degree. We can’t deny the fact that some students don’t have any interest in studying. They are thinking to work and earn money than continuing studying. Focus on what their passion is. Some parents put too much pressure on their children by having many expectations in academic grades. I have known someone who is a consistent honor student and one time that person have a low grade than the usual, she cried and said “My mom will get mad, and will compare me to my younger sister” I felt bad for her, do the grades is the basis of everything? The expectations that parents have for her gives pressure on the student.
Education is indeed important, it teaches us, it molds our skills and talent yet it gives pressure on some students by having unexpected grades. Students are being compared to others that lead to stress and anxiety. If a student feels that they are not good enough to meet their parent’s outlooks, they will tend to find what’s wrong, and solutions such as studying extremely, thinking they, must reach or better yet surpass it. There where anxiety and stress are starting to possess them. There are some cases in the present time that students are committing suicide because of depression in studying. Why not school teach students to become what they want and stop putting pressure on them? And for parents too, Everything is started at home and how you raise your children, remember that it’s not about having high grades, it’s all about enjoying and finding what your children want to pursue.
For students who are facing many difficulties, challenges, and pressure, take a break for now. Do what will make you delighted. Be responsible, communicate with your parents, and make them understand what matters for you.
